Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I would like to know the report analysis of MRI - Dorso Lumbar Spine. here are the findings 1. Disc dehydration noted at D11-12 and L3-4 disc levels with osteophytosis. 2. Annular bulges noted at D11-12 and L3-4 levels causing thecal sac indentations. Please suggest me what needs to be done any recommended exercise for this problem. Thanks.
There are discs between the vertebra in the spine. These discs contain a high water content. There is an outer ring and inner part to the discs. The outer part is called the anulus fibrosus. The discs have different uses including acting as shock absorbers in the spine.
Disc dehydration means that there is reduced fluid content in the discs. This would make them narrower and may affect their ability to work well. There are 12 thoracic vertebra (in the chest) and 5 lumbar( lower back).
This change is noted between the 11th and 12 th vertebra in the thorax (chest) and the 3rd and 4th vertebra in the lumbar region.
The outer part (anulus fibrosus) is also bulging out slightly from its space and it is pressing into parts with the nerves.
In terms of exercise, it would be best to see a physiotherapist recommended by your doctor to find out what would be the best exercises to do.
I hope this helps
